5. Choose an option next to the Default Timed Transcript section.
  1. Sometimes it is possible that edX already has a transcript for your video if the video you would like to add comes from a course that previously existed. In this case, Studio automatically matches the video and its transcript with one another.
By clicking on the Download Transcript for Editing option you can download the transcript file to make your desired modifications. After implementing your changes, upload the new version. To upload the new transcript file, merely click on the Upload New Transcript button.
  2. If edX does not have a transcript for the video, but YouTube has a transcript, Studio automatically finds the YouTube transcript and asks if you want to import it. To use this YouTube transcript, click Import YouTube Transcript. (If you want to modify the YouTube transcript, import the YouTube transcript into Studio, and then click Download Transcript for Editing. You can then make your changes and upload the new file by clicking Upload New Transcript.)
On the occasion that edX doesn't have the transcript for your video, but YouTube does, Studio will automatically find the YouTube transcript and inquire whether you would like to import it or not. Import the available YouTube transcript by clicking on Import YouTube Transcript. (In case you wanted to edit the YouTube transcript, you must then import it into Studio so that you can download the transcript file, edit it and upload the finalized file. Select Download Transcript for Editing to download and edit the file, then click on Upload New Transcript to upload the new files.)
  3. Assuming both edX and YouTube have a transcript for your video, you will receive a prompt message asking if you would like to replace the edX transcript with that of YouTube, given the original edX transcript is outdated. Click ‘Yes, replace the edX transcript with the YouTube transcript’ to use the YouTube transcript instead.
  4. You can upload a transcript file with the .srt format from your computer if neither edX nor YouTube has a transcript for your video. Upload the transcript file from your computer by clicking Upload New Transcript.

Note
  1. Do not follow these steps if your transcript file uses the .sjson format. Read more about the Process for .sjson Files.
  1. Also, do not follow these instructions if your transcript file uses a .pdf format. You can read more about Other Transcripts/ Supplementary Transcripts/ Other Imported Transcripts

6. Fill in the Video ID field, based on whether or not you are assigned an ID by edX.
In the condition that edX assigned a Video ID for the video to play within the desired component, enter the given ID in the Video ID field. And leave the other fields blank including the Default Video URL, the Video File URLs, and the YouTube ID fields. However, if you were not given a Video ID, overlook this field and fill in the others accordingly.

7. You can apply more options to your video if you were willing simply by selecting Advanced to view the advanced options. To learn more about each of the available options read the Advanced Options guide.

8. Save the component.
