How to Edit a Video (Advanced Options)

How to Edit a Video (Advanced Options)

1. Within the video component, click on the Edit option.

2. Then, click Advanced.

By clicking on Advanced, the options described below are then revealed on the Advanced tab of the video component.

Component Display Name
This is the component title that you would like your learners to see, and is identical to the Display Name Field on the Basic tab.
Download Transcript Allowed
You can determine whether the course participants are allowed to download the timed transcript or not using this option. Setting this value to True will display a download link below the video.

When you upload a .srt transcript, Studio automatically creates a .txt transcript. Enable the Download Transcript Allowed option, so that the learners are permitted to download the .srt or .txt versions of the transcripts. Also, if you want the transcript to be available for download in other formats such as .pdf, upload the file to Studio using the Upload Handouts field.
Downloadable Transcript URL
This URL is displayed on the Files page or the internet for transcript files that are not in .srt format. In fact, below the video, learners can find a download link to the non-srt transcript.

If you insert transcripts within this field, only those transcripts will then be available for download. Additionally, .srt and .txt transcripts will no longer be available. Uploading handouts within the Upload Handout field is highly recommended if you would like to provide downloadable transcripts in a format other than .srt. Read the Additional Transcript to learn more about the details.
Show Transcript
This option determines whether or not a video transcript is displayed alongside the video, by default.
Transcript Languages
Additional language transcript files. See Additional Language Transcripts for more information.
Upload Handout
You can upload handouts to supplement your video. Moreover, there is a Download Handout option below each video that enables the students to download the handouts.
Video Available on Web Only
You can use this option to determine whether the video can be accessed via different applications, like mobile apps. Or it is just limited to browsers.
Video Download Allowed
The Video Download Allowed option indicates whether or not the students can download a video they cannot access via edX or YouTube. If students cannot use the edX video player or watch the video on YouTube, setting this option value to ‘True’ allows the learners to download versions of this video in different formats. However, you are required to enter at least one non-YouTube URL in the Video File URLs field, if you decide to set this option to ‘True’.
Video File URLs
The non-YouTube version of your video is uploaded to this URL. Remember that these URLs cannot be YouTube URLs, and each should end in .mpeg, .webm, .mp4, or .ogg. All the students can watch the first video in the list compatible with the student's computer. You must set the Video Download Allowed option to ‘True’ if you would like to allow your learners to download these videos.
Using the .mp4 and .webm formats are highly recommended to ensure all standard browsers can play your video properly.
Video ID
You must fill in this field if you have been assigned a video ID by edX. Under these circumstances enter the given ID in the Video ID field to play the video in its component. Leave the other fields including the Default Video URL, the Video File URLs, and the YouTube ID fields, blank. However, if you were not given a Video ID, overlook this field and fill in the others accordingly.
Video Start Time
If you do not want to play the video completely from start to end, you must determine the starting point, which is known as the Video Start Time. Though this option is not supported by native mobile apps, meaning the full video file will be displayed on these devices. The correct format for setting this time is HH:MM:SS and the maximum value you can set is 23:59:59.
Video Stop Time
If you do not want the video to be played until the end, you must determine the stopping point, or the Video Stop Time. This feature is not supported on native mobile apps, so the whole video file will be displayed on these devices. The correct format for setting this time is HH:MM:SS and the maximum value you can set is 23:59:59.
YouTube ID
This is the YouTube ID for videos played at a normal speed, these settings are optional for older browser versions.
YouTube ID for .75x speed
This is the YouTube ID for videos played with a speed of 0.75x, these settings are optional for older browser versions.
YouTube ID for 1.25x speed
This is the YouTube ID for videos played with a 1.25x speed, these settings are optional for older browser versions.
YouTube ID for 1.5x speed
This is the YouTube ID for videos played with a speed of 1.5x, these settings are optional for older browser versions.
