Add videos to your courses in Studio using the Video component. You
can add the name location and transcript of the videos within the video
components. The participants can then watch the videos on the LMS.
There are several ways you can add videos in Video Components.
- Adding
videos from a user’s computer
- Adding
Videos via a YouTube link
- Adding
videos using a YouTube ID
Adding Videos from a User’s Computer
1. In Studio, open the Course section.
2. Select Files & Uploads from the Content menu.
3. You can choose and upload your desired video, either by using the Drag
and Drop option or simply by selecting Browse Your Computer on the Files
& Uploads page.
4. Once you upload the video file, Studio generates two URLs: the Web
URL and the Studio URL. Choose between the Web and Studio URL in the Copy URLs column, to copy the link onto your clipboard.
5. Open the Unit in which you would like to insert the video
component, or create a new Unit. Next, from the Add New Component section add a new video component to the Unit.
6. When the new video component is created successfully, it is then
visible. Hence, click on Edit; select the Basic tab in the
dialogue box that opens. And paste the link you have copied in the Default
Video URL field.
7. Click on Save.
Adding Videos via a YouTube link
You can easily insert a video within your
video component using a YouTube link, by following the steps below.
1. Copy the video’s URL from YouTube.
2. Create a new Unit or open one you have
previously made. Add a video component to your desired unit from the Add New
Component section of the Unit.
3. Click on Edit when the newly added
component appears and is ready to use. Select the Basic tab in the
opened pop-up, and paste the copied link within the Default Video URL field.
4. To keep any changes made to your units,
select Save.
Adding Videos Using a YouTube ID
1. You must copy the video ID from YouTube.
Where to Find the ID of any video on
YouTube?
Whether you are watching a video or just
happen to be visiting a link to a video, the video ID can be found in the
related page URL, right after the v = URL parameter.
For instance, assuming the URL of a given
video is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqz-KE-bpKQ, the ID would be aqz-KE-bpKQ as shown by the v = URL parameter.
2. Create a new Unit or load a previously
designed Unit to insert the video component in. You can then add the video component
from the Add New Component section.
3. Click on Edit, once the component appears.
4. Selecting Edit launches the editor; this time
select the Advanced tab and enter your desired video ID in the YouTube
ID field.
5. Click on Save to finalize your changes.
