When setting up a course within Studio and entering values for the required fields, you are ultimately defining the learner-visible course URL. This is because data fields, such as organization name, course number, or course run values, are all part of the learner-visible course URL and cannot be altered.
1. Using the URL provided by your administrator,
open Studio.
2. Click on New Course to open the create a new course window.
3. Complete the course creation by entering necessary course data
such as:
Course Name: This is the
course name openly available to be viewed by the public. It may be edited from
the Advanced Settings later on.
Organization: This value
identifies your school, organization, or institution; it is also seen within the
course URL. You cannot change this value in the future; however, you can use Advanced Settings to change the organization’s display.
Course Number: Your course
has an exclusive number assigned to it, called the Course Number, which is used
to recognize and identify your course. Note, this value is also part of the URL
for the course and hence cannot be edited. In addition, the use of spaces and
special characters are not allowed when defining the course number.
Course Run: The Course
Run value, just like the Course number, is part of the course URL and must
therefore be written without any spaces or special characters and may not be
altered in the future.
Lastly, click on Create.
Hence, you are prompted to the outline page in Studio, which is
yet blank.
