Setting the Grade Range

Setting the Grade Range

You must determine the academic standard of your course. It is up to you whether it requires a pass or fail, or if students should be assigned letter grades based on their performance between A and F.

To determine the scope of the assessment, navigate to Grading in the Settings menu.

The grade range control can be accessed at the top of the Grading page.

With a cutoff score of 50, the aforementioned example demonstrates that you have a pass/fail grade range. A new course is started with this preference.

The Grade Range control can be accessed at the top of the Grading page.

  • To add a grade to your report, click on the + icon.

A new grade has been established between the existing grades. The default setting now includes an F (0 to 50), B (50-75), and A (75-100). This adjustment allows for a wider range of criteria when evaluating academic performance:

  1. To manipulate your grading range, position the cursor over the dividing line between two grades and then drag it in either direction.

Observe the varying numerical values of neighboring grades flanking the line, and when it is in a desired position deselect it.

  1. To alter the title of a grade, select its existing name and then enter your desired alternate. For instance, if 'Pass' was originally displayed you may choose to type in 'Excellent' as an alternative.

F or Fail cannot be changed.

  1. To erase a score, move your cursor until it is on top of the grade.

A Remove link is provided above the grade which should be selected.

F or A cannot be removed.

Once you have amended the grade range, be sure to hit Save Changes at the bottom of this page.
