HTML (Texts) Component Overview and Templates

The key elements constituting your course content are the Text components utilized. To add and format text, links, images, or other content types; you may use Text components. It is possible to add text, images, and hyperlinks, within the text section of the HTML component. Also, you can switch editor modes from Visual to RAW; and make use of HTML code to design and create the content of that page.

You may choose to manipulate your text components from within the “visual” editor, also known as a WYSIWYG editor that hides the coding details. Or from within the “raw” editor, which entails encoding your content.

If you wish to make use of a Text component, you may easily do so by choosing from amongst a list of predefined templates and editor types, such as:

  • Text
  • Announcement
  • IFrame Tool
  • Raw HTML
  • Zooming Image Tool

The Text template of your choosing then launches the Visual Editor, which presents you with an empty text placeholder.

Similarly, selecting the Announcement or IFrame Tool templates open the Visual Editor; however, this time, default text within the placeholders guides the users on how they may format Announcements, or make use of IFrames.

Among the content types, the Raw HTML component uses the raw HTML editor, while all others are set to use the Visual Editor by default. Please note that it is not possible to switch between the two editors once they have been chosen.
