Course

Introduction

The settings related to the training courses available in the organization are found in the Courses section. It also provides information about courses such as Course ID, Course name, Certificate activation and whether the course is free or not.



There are three actions in this section: Course, Certificate and Commerce.

Course


Basic information

In this section, basic and general information about the course can be customized.

In the first box, the Course name, Partner (Organization), Course number, and Course run are displayed.


Course short description

"Course short description" refers to a quick summary of a course that effectively sums up its main points and goals. Usually, a brief paragraph or a few phrases are used to give prospective students a rapid overview of the course's content and the learning outcomes they can anticipate. The goal of the course summary is to grab the interest of potential students and persuade them to learn more about the course.


To write a short description, click on the short description box and write a maximum of 150 words describing the course.


The following principles should be applied when creating a powerful short description:
  1. Should be concise, ranging from 25 to 50 words.
  2. Serves as a captivating tagline.
  3. Communicates compelling motivations for enrolling in the course.
  4. Adheres to search engine optimization (SEO) principles.
  5. Appeals to a diverse international audience.


Course language

The term "Course Language" refers to the main language used to deliver the course's lectures, resources, and assessments. For instance, depending on the target audience and instructional design, a course language could be English, Spanish, French, or any other language.


To select the primary language of the course, follow the steps below:

  1. Click on the course language dropdown menu and choose your desired language from the displayed menu.
  2. Click on the "Save" button.

Transcript languages

The term "Transcript Languages" describes the availability of transcripts or captions for the course videos in many languages. Transcripts give students a chance to read along with the audio or video content in a course by providing a written record of the spoken material. It enables accessibility for students who might prefer or need subtitles or translations in languages other than the primary language of the course. By providing multiple course transcript languages, diversity is improved and a wider range of students is supported.


To select the transcript language of the course, follow the steps below:
  1. Click on the transcript language dropdown menu and choose your desired language from the displayed menu.
  2. Click on the "Save" button.


Course overview

You offer a course overview that presents a description of your course. Prospective students who are considering enrolling in your course should refer to the summary as it provides essential information. It outlines the main themes or concepts covered in the course and introduces its core idea. In addition to describing the necessary knowledge and skills for students to thrive in the course, the overview may also include information about the instructors and any specific requirements for the course.


In this section, there is an initial template available for guidance that can be modified for different sections or the entire content.

Instructors

The person in charge of instructing students, providing guidance, and fostering learning within a course is known as a lecturer or instructor. The course instructor is an essential part of assisting the students in remembering the material because they are knowledgeable and skilled in the subject matter being taught.


To select the course instructors, follow the steps below:
  1. Click on the box to display the names of existing instructors within the organization. The capability to select multiple instructors is available.
  2. Additionally, you can enter the desired instructor name and select it from the relevant search results.

Subjects

The term subject describes the particular subject matter or area of study that a course is focused on. 


To select the course subject, follow the steps below.
  1. Click on the box to display the names of existing subjects within the organization. The capability to select multiple subjects is available.
  2. Additionally, you can enter the desired subject name and select it from the relevant search results

What you will learn

The "what you'll learn" section of a course provides a comprehensive overview of the specific knowledge, skills, and competencies that participants will acquire or enhance as they progress through the learning experience. This section offers a condensed and clear description of the learning objectives and serves as a guide for the course's educational outcomes.


To enter the text of what learners will learn, follow the steps below:

  1. Enter the text related to what students will learn in the provided form.
  1. Click on the Add New Field button.
  1. Enter the other text related to what students will learn in the provided form.
  1. If necessary, repeat Step 2 as needed.
  1. Click on the Save button.

Requirements


The term "Requirements" in the context of a course schedule refers to any particular standards, qualifications, or conditions that participants must satisfy in order to properly interact with and finish the course within the allotted duration.


Time requirement


The course program may have a time commitment expectation for participants. This includes the total time or weekly hours needed to pass the course. Students can fit studying and finishing assignments into their schedules by being aware of the time commitment.


Follow these steps to specify the number of weeks and hours per week you want students to allocate to the course:

  1. Enter the number of hours per week that you anticipate students will devote to this course in the Hours of Effort each Week section.
  2. Enter the Total Recommended Weeks of Effort that you want students to allocate to the course.
  3. Enter the recommended weekly time effort range in the third and fourth boxes.

Prerequisite course


Before enrolling in a more advanced course, you must pass a prerequisite course. It acts as a foundational or preparatory course, giving students the knowledge, abilities, or background they need to adequately comprehend and interact with the material of the following course. Prerequisite classes make ensuring that students have the underlying knowledge or baseline understanding needed to contribute successfully to the higher-level course and expand on the fundamental ideas or abilities. They support the development of a progressive learning path, ensuring that students acquire the foundational knowledge required to succeed in more challenging classes. To help students choose the best course sequence, prerequisite courses are frequently listed in academic programs or course catalogs.

To determine the prerequisite course, follow this step:
  1. In the Course Prerequisites section, click the Prerequisite Course drop-down list to select a course.

The selected course is a course that students must complete before starting this course.


Commerce

The courses available in the organization can be free or non-free. To determine whether a course is not free, you can set an amount for the course through this section. In this way, users can enroll in the course only if they pay the fee. 

Click on the Commerce button.




Enter the desired amount in the price field. Check course paid.
Be sure to put an amount other than zero in the price field.
